About Us

The Black Horse is situated in Lewes, in the South Downs National Park.

We are open all year round from midday every day, and our kitchen is open 12-8pm Monday - Wednesday, and again from 12-8 Friday and Saturday. We offer Sunday roasts from 12-5pm on Sundays.

We also take bookings for all sorts of celebrations, and special occasions, offering a choice of Buffet menus.

We ask you book online here (or via our Facebook page) when planning to dine with us, (especially on Sundays, our roasts are legendary)! Our normal weekday menu offers a range of locally sourced produce where possible, and we cater for all dietary needs.

Passionate about our Ales

We offer an extensive range of locally sourced Cask ales, speciality Gins, and fine wines. We are very passionate about our Ales and support local Micro breweries such as, Burning Sky, Gun Brewery, Only With Love, Lakedown, and of course Harvey’s of Lewes to name just a few. We pride ourselves on offering a minimum of 5 real ales daily.

Entertainment

We have plenty of entertainment to offer. Live Sky Sports, BT Sports, and Amazon for all your sporting needs.

We also hold a Quiz night every second and last Sunday of the month (excluding Bank Holidays). We also host Toad in the hole teams (3 tables available for public use). Darts too!

We have a quaint flint wall lined garden for when the weather is fair, if the hustle and bustle of the mini bars doesn’t suit your fancy.

Lewes High Street is just a short 5 minute walk from us which features independent retailers and restaurants. The City of Brighton & Hove is just ten miles away too!

Being situated at the foot of the South Downs we are very walker and Cyclist friendly, all we ask is you remove your muddy boots before entering the pub, we will gladly top up your water bottle for you.
